Program description

Remembering the Shoah – Strengthening Tolerance Through the educational project "Remembering the Shoah – Strengthening Tolerance," the German association Deutsche Gesellschaft e. V., dedicated to political and cultural education, is taking part in the European initiative WITNESS-REM. The programme's educational offerings examine the history of the Shoah and NS-era persecution, while illuminating the enduring significance of remembrance, democracy, human dignity, and tolerance in the present day.

This November, two of the project's eight educational programs will take place, the first of which is:

Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site
Students from Bavaria will examine the early stages of Nazi persecution and the structure of the concentration camp system. A study day featuring a guided tour of the memorial site, together with work on historical photographs and written sources, will offer multiple perspectives on the everyday realities faced by prisoners.
